It’s been a wild week for Auburn football Twitter ever since Auburn University announced an employee vaccine mandate that will begin on December 8. Though the same questions were asked, first-year head coach Bryan Harsin’s answers (or lack thereof) did not change.
Bryan Harsin will not be discussing the vaccination status of any individual, including himself.
Auburn football’s head coach has made it clear that he is not anti-vaccine after the first round of COVID-related questions were asked back in August, but he has yet to tell the people if he has taken the shot or not.
While some fans believe it’s Harsin’s right to not share personal medical information, there are others who shame the coach for not speaking out in the same fashion as Nick Saban and Kirby Smart. It seems that most fans stand on the side of respecting the coach’s decision rather than be angry:
His vaccination status is between him and the school. No reason he should tell us. Amazing how fast we’ve gone from medical privacy laws to the need to broadcast everyone’s medical status.

Completely reasonable. Don’t make it something it’s not.

….as it should be.

But, some still think that Harsin is setting a poor example and has a responsibility to disclose his vaccine status:
Anyone who is making irresponsible and ignorant decisions that endanger the PUBLIC health of students and student athletes at their alma mater is the business of ALL alumni especially when they are donors. We pay his f’ing salary.

Whether or not Bryan Harsin chooses to tell the media that he’s vaccinated, there will be a pretty clear answer for interested parties come December. Until then, the head coach seems to be focused on the top priority, which is beating #10 Ole Miss this Saturday at home.
