Auburn football not likely catching any breaks against Ole Miss
Auburn football? Catching breaks?
Nope. Not in 2021. The SEC West is as tough as ever, with all but Mississippi State being ranked at one point this season, and Ole Miss, the consensus #2 team in the division, will be at full strength this coming Saturday.
Last week against LSU, the Rebels were missing two of their top three wide receiver weapons of Matt Corral.
This week, it appears they could be back (via 247Sports):
"Two of the key offensive players for Ole Miss, Jonathan Mingo and Braylon Sanders, could be back in action for Saturday night’s SEC football game at Auburn. That was the word from Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin on the SEC coaches weekly press conference Wednesday."
Because of course the Tigers will face a team at full strength. It wouldn’t be Auburn, though, if any breaks were caught.
Fly War Eagle is not hoping for injuries or suffering in general from any player in college football in any form or fashion by the way. We appreciate every single player that ever lines up to play this beautiful sport for our entertainment.
But if injuries are inevitable–and since this is football, they are–you just wonder if AU can ever be the team with less guys missing from the sideline.
Instead, the Tigers could be missing a handful of guys this Saturday for undisclosed reasons. Let’s just say it could relate to the suspension rumors from this past weekend.
Last week, Lane Kiffin had us thinking that his golden goose Matt Corral could be missing against LSU. Then Corral completed 19 of 24 passes and led the Rebels to handing LSU another defeat in Death Valley.
While it wasn’t the fireworks we were used to from the man Bryan Harsin calls the Heisman frontrunner, it got the job done.
Corral’s injury talk has died down, and his top weapons will be lining up alongside him. Because this is Auburn football, and there are no breaks.
