Auburn football knocked off the #10 Ole Miss Rebels in Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend to make a dominant rise in the AP Poll to #12. While the Rebs’ college football playoff hopes may have been dashed by this defeat, the Tigers remain in control of their destiny.

Four more SEC opponents stand in between Auburn football and the SEC Championship, including next week’s opponent, the #13 Texas A&M Aggies, and Iron Bowl opponent, #3 Alabama. However, if the Tigers can earn a rematch with the #1 Georgia Bulldogs, the playoffs are not out of the question for the Tigers.

AP Writer Ralph D. Russo narrowed his CFP prediction down to five teams on Twitter–Georgia, Auburn, Baylor, Michigan State, and Oregon. He also named the Tigers as the 2021 SEC Champs:

Auburn football is on a roll, and so are the fans, who used Russo’s tweet as fuel to their Auburn-in-the-playoffs fire:

Naturally, Auburn fans are campaigning for the Dawgs to be skipped over in favor of the Tigers, but it’s likely that Auburn would have to face Georgia three times this year on their road to the title–the regular-season game, the SEC Championship, and in the playoffs.

Bryan Harsin’s first-year team has a long road ahead of them before the playoffs could be a possibility, but just knowing that others out there think that the Tigers could take it all is enough to get any fan riled up.
