With five Auburn football players already entered into the NCAA transfer portal, fans have taken to Twitter to beg third-year quarterback Bo Nix to return to the Plains. The junior’s season was cut short with two games left on the schedule after a devastating ankle injury, and now his future at Auburn is uncertain.
Though Nix has maintained that his ultimate goal is to play in the NFL and that his focus is currently on healing up his ankle, he remained non-committal on whether or not he plans to wear an orange and blue jersey again next season. Nix, who will be graduating from Auburn University this year, will still have two years of eligibility to use, and he wants the best opportunity to get to the NFL, per AL.com:
"“I think a lot of juniors are in the same boat,” Nix said. “Well, not just juniors, but guys that came back for a COVID year and still have another year of eligibility. There’s a lot of things that guys can do nowadays, and I’m not sure what that is for me, but like I said, I want to get my ankle better and worry about that in the future.”"
Auburn football fans are hoping that Nix chooses to continue his career on the Plains, especially after watching the offense fall into a downward spiral with #10 on the sidelines. Fans have even started a #ComeBackBo hashtag on Twitter to plead with the junior QB:
While Nix is apparently weighing all his options, he has been linked to both UCF and SMU due to his coaching ties with Gus Malzahn and Rhett Lashlee. After watching the offense against South Carolina and Alabama, many believe that Auburn football’s best chance to be great is to have Bo Nix as QB1.
Bo Nix deserves to take the best opportunity he can find, but like many Auburn football fans, we at Fly War Eagle are tweeting #ComeBackBo.
