Auburn football is looking to fill the void left by former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who was let go following the team’s Iron Bowl loss to Alabama.
Of course, that loss was the fourth straight for the Tigers and the third straight in which the team failed to produce enough offense to thwart three straight double-digit comebacks from the opposition.
The next OC can’t allow that to happen. There’s too much talent offensively on the Plains for execution to fall off so profoundly in the second half of games.
Could that next OC be a former NFL QB currently under payroll for the Seattle Seahawks as the QB coach under Pete Carroll?
Jake “Jboy” Crain believes so:
Needless to say, the Auburn family was far from thrilled, with many not even being familiar with the six-year NFL veteran:
And those that have heard of him aren’t thrilled with his name being floated:
Davis was a QB for the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles of Conference USA from 2008-2011 and eclipsed 3,000 yards passing every year he was healthy for the entire season. He threw 83 touchdowns to 27 interceptions and accounted for 109 scores over his four-year career.
It’ll be interesting to see if Bryan Harsin poaches a QB coach from the NFL for the open Auburn football OC role. There’s been much talk from national pundits about Harsin making a jump back to his native Pacific Northwest after a season in the SEC and in the south, but this seems like the likelier involvement he’ll have with the region.
