With Early National Signing Day just one week away, Auburn football’s coaching staff have been turning up the heat on recruiting. They’ve been hosting recruits for visits on campus and also jetting around the country for in-home visits to try to bring the best home to the Plains.

All of the coaching change drama currently happening in the world of college football has made for a wild recruiting cycle, with recruits switching schools and de-committing under new coaching staffs. However, the instability of other top programs could be a helping hand to first-year head coach Bryan Harsin.

Two SEC programs, LSU and Florida, are both going through massive changes in their programs with LSU bringing in Brian Kelly from Notre Dame and the Gators snapping up Billy Napier from Louisiana. Although they’ve established their next head coaches, they’re losing recruits left and right, and two of those recruits could find their college homes with Auburn football.

The first is 4-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson, who de-committed from the University of Florida earlier today, was once a major target for Auburn football and listed the Tigers as one of his eight finalists back in October. Now that Gibson is officially cutting ties with the Gators, Harsin and wide receivers coach Eric Kiesau should get Gibson on the phone as soon as possible.

The other recruit that the Tigers should be looking into is 3-star wide receiver and former LSU commit Decoldest Crawford. Not only should he come to the Plains to continue the streak of incredible names on the roster, but also because it’s usually exceedingly hard to pull a Louisiana native away from LSU. Though it’s looking like Crawford could potentially be following former LSU WR coach Mickey Joseph to Nebraska, he could also make a great fit on Auburn’s 2022 roster.
