With the announcement that three-year starting quarterback Bo Nix will be entering the transfer portal, Auburn football is officially looking for a new offensive coordinator and a new QB1. But while the Tigers are on the hunt for new additions to their program, Nix is on the hunt for a new school.
CFB writer Chris Hummer noted that although Nix has officially entered the portal, he’s listed with a “do not contact” tag, which would theoretically mean that Nix already knows his future destination. Nix has made no mention of recruitment following his transfer announcement.
However, if it’s untrue that Nix’s transfer destination has already been decided, former Auburn football teammate Shaun Shivers made it known that he would gladly be teammates with Nix again at Indiana:
Shivers’ tweet was in response to Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver D.J. Matthews, who appealed to the former Tiger quarterback in his own tweet. It seems that the Hoosiers would be fully on board with Nix as their 2022 QB1:
Many have pointed out that Bo Nix would do well at Cincinnati, and he’s been linked numerous times to UCF, but is his goal really to reunite with former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn? With two years of eligibility left, Nix is likely pursuing an opportunity at a school that would enhance his draft stock, as he stated that getting to the big league is still his ultimate goal.
Nix is just one of several big-name quarterbacks in the portal right now, so it’s probably to his advantage if he already knows his transfer destination. With Spencer Rattler committing to South Carolina, names like USC’s Kedon Slovis, LSU’s Myles Brennan and Max Johnson, and Nebraska’s Adrian Martinez are still searching for new programs.
