In the midst of all the early signing day news, two former Auburn football players have officially found new homes within the college football landscape. After ending the season 6-6 and sending former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo packing, it was no surprise that players would be entering the portal.
Once one of Auburn’s mightiest running backs, Shaun Shivers was the first to declare a new school with his decision to transfer to the Indiana Hoosiers. Earlier this week former offensive lineman Tashawn Manning announced that he would be continuing his collegiate career at Kentucky, where he will use his last year of eligibility. Another former Tiger has made the decision to remain in the SEC, but a little closer to the Plains.
Former Auburn safety Ladarius Tennison announced on Twitter today that he will be transferring one state over to Lane Kiffin’s program at Ole Miss. The sophomore ended his two-year career on the Plains with 42 total tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss.
Also announcing his transfer destination is former Auburn football wide receiver Elijah Canion. The sophomore WR played in six games over his two years in orange and blue and recorded seven catches for 126 yards. The former Tiger will be using his remaining eligibility in Indiana, where he will play for the Purdue Boilermakers.
Today’s announcement means four of the Tigers’ six transfers of 2022 have found new homes, while former starting QB Bo Nix and junior defensive end Caleb Johnson have not yet made public their transfer destinations.
With new additions to the roster coming on early national signing day and a new offensive coordinator announced on the Plains, it’s likely that more players could enter the portal before all is said and done.
