Auburn football fans clearly value the opinion of a former Super Bowl Champion QB that has been to eight Pro Bowls and who was named the Griese–Brees Quarterback of the Year in college.
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson recently commented on the new hire for the Tigers offensive coordinator role, who just so happens to be a former teammate of his, and the Auburn family was ready to run through a brick wall after reading them.
Austin Davis was called both ‘brilliant’ and a potential future head coach by the reigning Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and spoke to the impact Davis has on the psyches of the QBs he works with.
This all greatly pleased the Auburn family:
The hire is a critical one for Bryan Harsin’s offense. With Bo Nix gone, the Tigers will likely have a young gun under center with little experience. Even having TJ Finley under center means you’re starting a guy with just a year of starting in the SEC under his belt, plus the two games he filled in for Nix for.
Particularly for Dematrius Davis and Holden Geriner, though, this hire could be the move that turns them into NFL prospects.
Either way, this hiring is huge for the Auburn football program, and Russell Wilson’s vote of confidence is an important one for Tiger fans as they begin yet another season with a new play-caller on the AU support staff.
Let’s just hope he doesn’t become too successful and bolts before he could truly get his feet wet on the Plains.
