Auburn football has seen lots of change in the wide receiver room during the offseason, and it’s likely that more change is to come before the 2022 season begins. The Tigers’ WR group certainly left things to be desired after a 2021 season where dropped passes plagued the team in most of their games.

After losing their most productive receiver to the transfer portal and ultimately UCF in Kobe Hudson and with Demetris Robertson’s lack of eligibility, it’s no surprise that head coach Bryan Harsin and wide receivers coach Eric Kiesau are combing the transfer portal for new talent.

Just today, two SEC wide receivers have entered the transfer portal, and they are both options that Auburn football should consider getting in orange and blue next season.

The first is LSU wide receiver Devonta Lee, a former 4-star recruit that signed with the Bayou Bengals as part of their class of 2019. The #8 ATH in his class and the #10 recruit out of the state of Louisiana, Lee spent three seasons with LSU before entering the portal. During his career at LSU, Lee played in 34 games and caught 11 passes for 85 yards and one touchdown.

The other SEC wide receiver to enter the transfer portal today is Javon Baker from the Crimson Tide. A former 4-star recruit out of Powder Springs, GA, Baker becomes the eighth scholarship player from Alabama to enter the transfer portal since their national championship loss.

The wide receiver signed with the Tide in 2020 as the #20 recruit out of the state of Georgia. In two seasons in Tuscaloosa, Baker had nine catches for 116 yards and caught seven of those passes in the 2021 season.

Although some Auburn football fans may be hesitant to take someone that played for the enemy, class of 2022 Auburn running back commit Damari Alston is definitely giving the WR some thought:

There’s no telling who Harsin and the Tigers will pull from the transfer portal, but they will have plenty of wide receivers to choose from.
