Auburn football’s spring schedule beginning to take shape
As we turn the page on 2021 and begin to prepare for the 2022 season, Auburn football’s spring schedule is beginning to take shape. The program announced this week that the annual spring game, A-Day, will take place on April 9, one week earlier than last year.
This year’s A-Day should look different from last year’s in the sense that there are no expected restrictions on attendance to COVID-19. After canceling the game in 2020 and only allowing 40% capacity at the 2021 game, 2022 should be the first spring game that is mostly back to normal.
As this year’s game is scheduled a week earlier than last year, Auburn football fans can expect winter workouts to begin later on this month. Last year, they began on January 25:
Each team in college football is given 15 days of spring practices, which includes scrimmages. Last year, head coach Bryan Harsin hosted an open practice in addition to the annual A-Day scrimmage, but any open practices for this year have yet to be announced. With the A-Day game officially set for April 9, practices will likely begin in early March.
Auburn football should hopefully be adding several transfers to their roster before winter workouts kick-off, but prospects are still weighing decisions. Offensive linemen Mason Brooks (Western Kentucky) and O’Cyrus Torrence (Louisiana) are expected to make decisions soon, in addition to wide receiver Kyren Lacy (Louisiana) and hopefully, QB Caleb Williams (Oklahoma).
While full details for Auburn football’s annual spring scrimmage have not been announced yet, tickets traditionally cost $5 apiece. In addition to the A-Day game, the program has also set dates for high school and 7 on 7 camps. Check back to Fly War Eagle for more info on A-Day 2022 as the details are released.
