Auburn football: 2 in-state prospects the Tigers are pursuing
The recruiting class of 2023 has been lauded as one of the best recruiting classes yet, and Auburn football is doing its best to get some of those high-profile prospects on the Plains for next year. Having a full staff is certainly helping with recruiting, and the Tigers are working to capture the interest of these recruits, especially those hailing from the state of Alabama.
Offers are flying out from Auburn football, and the hard work could pay in terms of securing a great recruiting class next year. Having to compete with Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide and Kirby Smart’s Dawgs will be no easy feat, but head coach Bryan Harsin and his support staff are kicking things into high gear.
Two in-state prospects are high on the list for the Tigers in safety DaKaari Nelson and offensive lineman Vysen Lang.
Lang, currently a member of the reigning 5A state champions at Pike Road, Alabama, is stacking up offers as a junior, with interest from programs including Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Florida, and Notre Dame, among others.
Auburn Live reports that Lang possesses patience that many top offensive linemen don’t have and that the talented 4-star OL will be on Auburn’s campus for a recruiting event March 14-18:
"Lang is pretty solid in everything he does. He’s more hesitant than a lot of top-tier offensive linemen, but not in a bad way He approaches blocks with patience and good technique before he will try and run someone into the ground."
Also on Auburn football’s radar is DaKaari Nelson, a 4-star safety out of Selma, Alabama. Nelson camped on the Plains last summer and was in Jordan-Hare Stadium for the Georgia game, and is likely to return to campus soon.
The Tigers’ staff has been working hard to build a strong relationship with Nelson, and Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live notes that the safety is in regular communication with Bryan Harsin and Zac Etheridge. While Nelson has not yet released a list of top schools, his interest in Auburn football is definitely up there:
"“With the name they have built for themselves, my interest in Auburn is high,” Nelson said. “Plus, them being an in-state school is another reason I have high interest.”"
With so much talent emerging from the state of Alabama, getting these prospects to remain in-state and choose Auburn would be a huge win for Bryan Harsin in his second year on the Plains.
