While head coach Bryan Harsin was on the court at Rocky Top supporting Bruce Pearl and Auburn basketball on the road this weekend, Auburn football announced their week six Iron Men of the Week.

As usual, one player on the offensive side of the ball and one player on the defensive side are recognized by the team for their hard work in the weight room during the offseason as the Tigers prepare to begin spring practices for 2022.

Last week’s Iron Men honors were presented to running back Tank Bigsby and defensive tackle Zykeivous Walker. This week, the offensive recognition goes to sophomore wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson and defensive recognition goes to edge linebacker Derick Hall.

Tar’Varish Dawson will be heading into his second year with the Auburn football program, and 2022 has the potential to be the young receiver’s breakout year for the Tigers. Dawson earned high praise in last year’s fall camp but did not see game action until the Birmingham Bowl in the post-season.

With the Tigers returning only one of their most productive receivers from last season, Dawson will have the opportunity to step up big time under new WR coach Ike Hilliard and put his talent to work on the playing field.

Aside from being a fixture in The Jungle at Auburn basketball games, senior Derick Hall is a veteran leader to the Tigers’ defense. Hall finished out the 2021 season with 52 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and two forced fumbles. He led the team in sacks with nine for 49 yards and also in TFL with 12.5 for 57 yards.

Both Hall and Dawson will have opportunities to make big impacts for the Auburn football program this fall.
