With much of last year’s talent in the wide receiver room parting ways with Auburn football through the transfer portal or because they are left with no eligibility, the position group is in serious need of immediate talent for the 2022 squad.

After Eric Kiesau was promoted to offensive coordinator following the abrupt departure of Austin Davis, former NFL assistant Ike Hilliard was brought on to coach the receivers and has quickly gotten to work.

Today, Arkansas State transfer wide receiver Corey Rucker confirmed on Twitter that he received an offer from Auburn football amid offers from several other programs around the country:

A native of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Rucker ranked as a 3-star prospect out of high school. Early on in his recruitment, the WR committed to the South Alabama Jaguars before ultimately flipping to Arkansas State and signing with the Red Wolves as part of their recruiting class of 2020.

As a true freshman in 2020, Rucker saw action in eight games and earned one start. He broke the NCAA FBS record for single-game receiving yards by a freshman in the Red Wolves’ matchup versus ULM and finished the season with 16 receptions for 453 yards and five touchdowns.

In 2021, Rucker was one of the most productive receivers on the field for Arkansas State, leading the team in both receiving yards with 826 on 59 catches and receiving touchdowns with nine, the second-most in the Sunbelt Conference. In addition to his receptions, the WR also had two carries for 20 yards and another touchdown.

Rucker had four games with at least seven catches and two games where he scored multiple touchdowns for the Red Wolves.

With offers from other big programs like Ole Miss and South Carolina, it could be a tough battle for the Tigers to win, but it’s clear that Corey Rucker’s talent would be put to good use on the field should he choose Auburn football.
