Auburn football: Ike Hilliard’s NFL resume draws 5-star WR Jalen Brown
Prospects from across the country made their way to the Plains this weekend to visit campus for Auburn football’s Junior Day event, where potential future Tigers got the opportunity to experience a day in the life of an Auburn football player.
One of those visitors was 5-star wide receiver Jalen Brown, experiencing the Plains for the first time. Out of Miami, FL, Brown is ranked as the #29 overall prospect and the #4 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #9 recruit out of the state of Florida.
The wide receiver has already accumulated upwards of 30 offers from top programs including Texas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Georgia, Michigan, Texas A&M, Miami, and Florida State in addition to his offer from Auburn football.
Brown had been wanting to take a visit to Auburn for a while now and came away extremely impressed with his would-be position coach, Ike Hilliard, who he lauded as “respectful” and a “good leader.” But most impressive to Brown is Hilliard’s NFL resume, per Auburn Live:
"“That’s a big factor,” Brown said. “He did basically what I’m trying to do now. He was a high school recruit and played in college and played in the NFL. Now he’s just giving back what he learned over the years to younger kids in coaching.”"
The wide receiver is likely a long way out from making a final decision about where he will play college football, but he plans to return for an official visit to Auburn and wants to be on campus later this summer and also for a game day in the fall.
While Miami holds the lead in 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball Prediction, Auburn football has most definitely got the interest of the 5-star wide receiver, and getting him back on campus multiple times over the coming year gives the Tigers a good chance to land Jalen Brown.
