News broke yesterday that the Memphis men’s basketball team could be facing four Level I NCAA violations and two Level II NCAA violations following an 18-month investigation into the program, and despite this news having nothing to do with Auburn football, basketball, or any other program, the Tigers are still being brought into the conversation.
As noted by Justin Hokanson on Twitter, Auburn football has gone 30 years without committing a serious infraction, and in the last two decades, the basketball program has committed only one major infraction.
However, Indianapolis sports personality Derek Schultz shared his thoughts on the subject and namedropped the Tigers in a quote tweet about the Memphis violations:
Anytime I see “NCAA violations” in the news I expect it to either be Auburn (any sport) or Memphis basketball. https://t.co/Jxu6EBnl5Z

Over ten years later, people are still trying to argue that there was wrongdoing concerning Cam Newton, despite the fact that two separate NCAA investigations found nothing. As expected, Auburn fans were less than happy about Schultz needlessly stirring the pot. The ISC Sports Network employee was ridiculed as people accused him of looking for attention.
This guy wanted attention, so he mentioned Auburn https://t.co/pT6S0en3Qj

Fans also pointed out that the recent allegations against LSU and the subsequent firing of former head basketball coach Will Wade made Schultz’s take even more ridiculous:
Auburn ?? When LSU literally about to get the hammer of Thor dropped on em..??

The bottom line is that athletics programs on the Plains, including Auburn football and basketball, are doing just fine, and Schultz should probably limit his hot takes concerning the Tigers.
