With the end of the school year for most high school athletes quickly approaching, more and more recruits are starting to narrow down their lists of potential programs. That includes 4-star defensive lineman Dashawn Womack from Baltimore, Maryland, who recently included Auburn football in his list of top 10 schools.

Womack is ranked as the #170 overall prospect and the #25 defensive lineman in the recruiting class of 2023, and the #4 recruit out of the state of Maryland, per 247 Sports. The 6-foot-4 225-pound EDGE has become a top target for the Tigers and edge coach Roc Bellantoni.

According to Auburn Live, communication did not begin when Auburn football extended the offer, and there was a relationship between the Tigers and Womack prior to the offer, which was received by Womack just one week ago.

The other programs that made Womack’s top 10 list offer quite the variety, and include Georgia, Pittsburgh, Michigan, LSU, Boston College, Maryland, Temple, Ole Miss, and Rutgers. Here’s what Womack had to say about his recruitment and Auburn football, per 247 Sports:

"“They just offered so I am interested. They are low on d-linemen and I feel as though I would have a pretty good chance of being able to be in the rotation and play early, play in my freshman year.”"

While early playing time is important to the defensive lineman, he does not expect to take the easy path and is looking forward to competing for a spot at the next level:

"“It was kind of hard because I am trying to pick schools where I can push the hardest,” the Baltimore St. Frances standout said. “Competition. I like competition. I’ve always been competitive.”"

Should he choose to commit to the Tigers, Womack would be a great addition to Auburn’s defense.
