Is 2023 the season of the flip for Auburn football? While the roster for 2022 is mostly set in stone at this point aside from additions that may be picked up through the NCAA transfer portal, the Tigers’ coaching staff is working hard to secure a dynamite class for 2023 cycle.

Several top prospects from around the country and the southeast region have already committed to playing college football at a particular program, but that hasn’t stopped second-year head coach Bryan Harsin and his staff from raising the stakes and going full-force at these recruits to try to pull off a flip.

There are a number of committed recruits that Auburn football has the potential to flip before next year, including several Georgia commits and even Alabama-bound Jahlil Hurley. However, one interesting target on the Tigers’ radar is headed to UCF, and they’re working hard to pull him away from the Knights.

Isaiah Nixon is a 4-star edge rusher from St. Petersburg, FL, and he’s ranked as the #268 overall prospect and the #26 edge in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as being the #48 recruit out of the state of Florida.

Nixon committed to former Auburn football coach Gus Malzahn and the Knights back in April over programs including Auburn, Alabama, Miami, Georgia, Florida, and Oklahoma. However, according to Auburn Live, there is an official visit to the Plains in the works for the pass rusher, and he is highly valued on the Tigers’ recruiting board.

With Derick Hall and Eku Leota likely parting ways with Auburn football following the 2022 season, the Tigers’ edge coach Roc Bellantoni will be pushing hard for high-impact recruits in the class of 2023, and if he can get Nixon on campus for a visit we can expect the coaching staff to turn the heat all the way up on Nixon’s recruitment.
