Prospects from all over the country have begun narrowing down their lists of final schools and preparing to get a closer look at their favorite programs throughout the coming summer months. Auburn football will have a busy summer season, playing host to a multitude of recruits for official visits.
The latest prospect to lock in an official visit with the Tigers is 3-star linebacker Phil Picciotti. Ranked as the #383 overall prospect and #34 linebacker in the recruiting class of 2023, Picciotti is also the #8 recruit out of the state of Pennsylvania.
One of Auburn football’s top targets at the linebacker position, Picciotti plans to take his official visit to the Plains on June 24-26.
Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania native narrowed down his list to just four potential schools, and Auburn football made the cut along with Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Michigan. Picciotti has already set up official visits with each program. He will visit Oklahoma on June 3-5, Nebraska on June 10, and Michigan on June 14 before ending his tour on Auburn’s campus.
According to 247 Sports, Picciotti’s relationships with the coaching staffs at each school will weigh heavily on his ultimate decision:
"“I need to have a strong connection with coaches because I am going to be there for four years,” Picciotti told 247Sports recently. “Education is a really big part in my decision because football ends at some point. I want to compete at the highest level. I want to play early, make an impact early. I want the opportunity to play early.”"
While 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball projection currently places Oklahoma as the leader to land the commitment of the talented linebacker, Picciotti plans to take a closer look at all four programs before making a final decision sometime this summer.
An official visit on the Plains could be enough to sway Phil Picciotti to choose to become a Tiger.
