Head coach Bryan Harsin’s “Tiger Takeover” recruiting strategy has been panning out well for Auburn football so far in the 2023 cycle. The Tigers have made impressions on many top recruits around the country, and especially in the southeast region.

Prospects have been narrowing their lists of potential schools and locking in official visits to get closer looks at the programs, and the Tigers have shown up in both top schools lists and visit lists for these athletes.

The latest athlete to cut down his list of schools is 4-star defensive lineman Darron Reed from nearby Columbus, GA. The Carver High athlete is ranked as the #327 overall prospect and the #48 defensive lineman in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as being the #30 recruit out of the state of Georgia.

He announced today that he is down to six schools that he is considering playing for at the next level: Auburn, LSU, Miami, Florida State, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.

However, it seems that it will likely be an uphill battle for Auburn football to land the commitment of the talented defensive lineman, and the 247 Sports Crystal Ball projects Reed to choose either Florida State or Ohio State. 247 Sports reported that Reed will spend much of the month of June on official visits, though a visit to the Plains has not yet been planned:

"The 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive lineman is set to take several June official visits. At last check, his official visit schedule was Clemson (June 3rd), LSU (June 10th), Miami (June 17th), FSU (June 21st), and Ohio State (June 24th)."

Fortunately, Auburn football will still have the chance to make a move on Reed because he is not set to make his final decision until July 4. On the flip side, it will be hard for the Tigers to beat out a school like FSU, where Reed has visited multiple times and will also have an official this summer.
