Auburn football fans joined Twitter in dragging Nick Saban for saying Alabama deals with NIL sponsorship ‘the right way’ relative to Texas A&M.
Saban, who owns stakes in Mercedes dealerships in Irondale and Hoover, as well as Nashville, Tennessee, and also part-owns a Hoover Infiniti dealership, said the comments unironically after years of his car dealer ownership group being accused of giving Crimson Tide recruits new cars.
Twitter jumped at the chance to eviscerate the Alabama coach’s ludicrous comments.
Auburn football Twitter, of course, included:
Nick Saban says 25 players on Alabama last season earned NIL revenue totaling $3 million and did it “the right way.” Saban speaking at a 50-day countdown event for the World Games in Birmingham.

Saban: We were 2nd in recruiting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness. We didn’t buy one player. But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to sustain that in the future because more and more people are doing it https://t.co/uwEcLQa2u4

This has gotta be weird for Saban, whose boosters could buy any player they wanted to in the past under the table. Now that everything is out in the open they are more or less on equal footing but kinda behind on how it is actually done. https://t.co/ljK6JiPguz

Nick Saban, you outdid yourself with these comments. Pat on the back for not breaking out in laughter while saying them.
