Auburn football is on a long line of universities in the U.S. South, Midwest, and even Western New York and California, that are interested in bringing on Class of 2024 4-star DL Kavion Henderson.

The Leeds product has 41 offers from schools ranging from recent national champions (Georgia, LSU) to HBCUs (Jackson State, Florida A&M, Grambling State) to MAC programs (Buffalo, Miami Ohio).

Everyone wants the six-foot-three, 240-pounder, but two schools currently lead the pack as far as his recruitment goes.

Oklahoma and Arkansas are the two schools primarily being projected to be Henderson’s choice. Brent Venables newly implemented staff has an ever-so-slight edge they can likely build upon with a successful first season in charge at Oklahoma.

Auburn football won’t land recruits if there is no stability

Auburn has the theoretical edge in recruitment of Henderson because they are the largest in-state program to offer him. Alabama has still not offered the Green Wave DL despite being separated by just 75 miles.

That edge remains theoretical because no 2024 recruit is going to sign on the dotted line when the Auburn Board of Trustees clearly wants to get rid of Auburn football HC Bryan Harsin as soon as possible.

There’s ramifications to the mudslinging the Yellawoods of the world were aiming towards the Tigers HC, and it will be felt until the program can turn their recent luck around. Who knows if Harsin can even survive another six-win season, which is what AU is being pegged for this coming season given their 5.5 over/under win total.

As long as Auburn continues to have a black cloud hanging over the program, recruits won’t value the beauty of the Plains as much as a chance to build a brand and eventually earn an NFL contract. Based on this year’s draft results (one selection), recruits will have hesitation about Harsin until they can be assured that Auburn offers everything they are looking for.
