Auburn football makes top 6 for Montgomery running back
One of Auburn football’s high priority running back targets narrowed his list down to six schools earlier this week, and the Tigers remain in the competition. Although his recruitment is not over yet, the Tigers are in a good spot with the 4-star running back out of Montgomery Catholic.
Jeremiah Cobb is ranked as the #213 overall prospect and the #12 running back in the recruiting class of 2023, and is the #18 recruit out of the state of Alabama. He has an offer list of over 30 programs, but is now deciding between Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.
The RB has spent lots of time on the Plains during his recruitment, his most recent visit taking place in late April. He was also on campus during March, when the coaching staff made a big push for him, and Cobb told 247 Sports the coaches made him feel like a top priority:
"“Yes sir, that’s what (Williams) was telling me the whole day — and Coach Harsin,” Cobb recalled. “It made me feel really good. I got to stand on the field with Coach Harsin. I got to learn some of the plays. It was awesome.”"
Though second-year head coach Bryan Harsin is clearly involved in Cobb’s recruitment, he has built a particularly strong relationship with his would-be position coach Cadillac Williams:
"“Coach Lac, I love him,” Cobb said recently. “He’s awesome. He’s one of my favorites on the staff. He treats me right.”"
Last month Cobb was reportedly set to make his decision at the end of the summer months following his official visits to different programs, but now it seems the RB is unclear about when the announcement could come and may put things off until the fall.
Auburn football is likely to sign multiple running backs to the recruiting class of 2023, but Jeremiah Cobb is a high priority for the Tigers.
