Following spring training and heading into summer workouts, the Auburn football coaching staff has returned to the tradition of posting Iron Men of the Week.

Two players are selected, one from the defensive side of the ball and one from the offensive side, to be recognized as hard workers during the program. During the summer it seems that a position group of the week will also be selected.

This week, the Iron Men of the Week are two key returners who are also leaders for this Auburn football team. Representing the offense is junior running back Tank Bigsby, while junior defensive end Colby Wooden represents the defense.

Tank Bigsby is expected to be a huge part of the offense in head coach Bryan Harsin’s second season on the Plains as the Tigers look to strengthen the running game and utilize the star power of Bigsby. The running back had a spectacular sophomore season, rushing for 1,099 yards and ten touchdowns as well as hauling in 21 passes for 184 yards.

Bigsby will be looking to add another 1,000+ yard season to his resume, and will likely declare for the NFL draft following this season on the Plains.

Defensive end Colby Wooden will be heading into his fifth season with Auburn football and will be returning to the starting lineup for defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding. Last season, he logged 61 total tackles, including 8.5 tackles for loss, as well as 5 sacks with 24 lost yards and one fumble recovery.

Wooden is also likely to head to the NFL Draft after this season but could use this extra year of collegiate playing time to boost his stock significantly. Both Wooden and Bigsby are major players on Auburn football’s 2022 roster.
