The summer months are getting busier and busier for the Auburn football team as they conduct summer workouts and play host to recruits from across the country who want a closer look at the program.

Many visitors were on campus this weekend to check out the Tigers, including 4-star offensive lineman DJ Chester. He is ranked as the #187 overall prospect and the #18 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #18 recruit out of the state of Georgia.

Though this was not Chester’s first trip to the Plains, the official visit had a big impact on his recruitment. The OT had the opportunity to spend more time around current players as they were not in practice on this visit, and he also got to look at film with his would-be position coach Will Friend.

According to Auburn Undercover, Will Friend is a big fan of Chester’s versatility on the line and sees potential in Chester’s game at the collegiate level:

"“Me and Coach Friend got more time to break down film and basically get one-on-one time. Just being around the players more because when I came they were at practice. I would fit really good because they run a pro style offense,” Chester said. “We broke down film and all that. I would fit real good.”"

Fly War Eagle recently reported how important a family atmosphere is to DJ Chester, and the Tigers definitely checked that box for the offensive tackle over the weekend. Chester has currently only narrowed down his list to 12 schools, and plans to take more visits in the fall before making a final decision about where he will play college ball. So far, he has not scheduled any more visits.

However, it is clear that Auburn football set the bar pretty high and made great impressions on Chester’s first official visit.
