Auburn vs. Ole Miss, the only SEC vs. SEC matchup during the first set of College World Series games, kicks off Saturday night at–unlike the Oregon State series’ first two matchups–a reasonable start time.
The Tigers knocked off the Beavers in a closely contested series that came down to the very last strike, but it was Blake Burkhalter who triumphed in a pitcher-batter duel over Garrett Forrester for the College World Series appearance-clinching swinging strikeout.
Ole Miss, on the other hand, blew the doors off in-state foe Southern Mississippi in a two-game sweep to set up the showdown with AU. The Rebels defeated the Golden Eagles by a combined score of 15-0.
Both teams come in with momentum, though Auburn’s upset of the national No. 4-ranked Beavers–of which they were the betting underdog each game–arguably gives them just a bit more.

AU has a slight edge in number of sportsbooks giving them the edge, though it is not by much. This should be a close one after the Tigers edged the Rebels 2-1 in the regular season series on a 33-27 run differential.
