Auburn football likely to add WKU grad transfer edge Marcus Bragg
While the Auburn football coaching staff is putting full effort into recruiting the class of 2023, they are also focused on filling the gaps in the 2022 roster ahead of head coach Bryan Harsin’s second season on the Plains.
One of the position groups most in need of extra talent and depth is the wide receivers group, and the staff have added several transfers to the roster during the offseason to combat the issue. Now, attention has turned to the Tigers’ edge rushers.
Just three edges remain on the roster from last year in Eku Leota, Derick Hall, and Dylan Brooks, and only the first two of those athletes saw game action. One edge transfer has joined the team already in Memphis transfer Morris Joseph. In order to add more depth to the edge group, the Tigers are pursuing former Western Kentucky edge Marcus Bragg.
Bragg began his collegiate career by playing at Mississippi Delta Community College and then Arizona Western before transferring to Western Kentucky in 2019. He remained at WKU for three seasons, recording 39 tackles, three sacks, one pass deflected, and one forced fumble. At his next school, Bragg will have one season of eligibility remaining.
According to Auburn Live, the South Florida native will be arriving on the Plains today for an official visit with Auburn football, and he plans to commit after his visit. Despite never having visited, Bragg is already somewhat familiar with the program through his cousin, former Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis, best known for his catch referred to as The Prayer in Jordan-Hare.
With Hall and Leota set to lead the way for the edge rushers in 2022, Bragg would be a welcome addition with the experience he would bring to the team. By the end of the weekend, Marcus Bragg is likely to be an Auburn Tiger.
