Several of Auburn football’s high-priority targets are getting closer and closer to making a final decision about where they will play college ball, narrowing their lists down and taking visits to potential schools.

One of those targets that is nearing a decision is 4-star running back Jeremiah Cobb. The Montgomery Catholic RB is listed as the #207 overall prospect and the #8 running back in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as the #18 recruit out of the state of Alabama.

Cobb has been to the Plains to visit the Tigers several times during his recruitment process but was most recently on campus for an official visit over the weekend. According to Auburn Undercover, a highlight of Cobb’s official visit was getting to spend time with all the coaches, not just his future position coach Cadillac Williams:

"“Definitely just like at dinner hanging out with Coach Cadillac and T-Reed, getting to know them and hanging out with Coach Harsin,” Cobb said stuck out. “Just getting to know them not as coaches but like, men. It was real cool.”"

Though Auburn football seems to be in the lead for Jeremiah Cobb, and the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predicts him to land on the Plains, there are still two schools that the Tigers are going to have to beat out to earn the commitment of Cobb.

The first is Tennessee, a school that Cobb says has been after him since the very beginning of his recruitment. He will officially visit the Vols next weekend, and according to 247 Sports, his goal is to get to know the staff better and determine whether or not the campus feels like home.

The other school Auburn will have to beat for Cobb is Clemson. He officially visited their campus earlier this month and feels strongly about his relationship with the coaching staff.

The Tigers are in a good spot with the in-state running back right now, but we will have to wait until after his official visit with Tennessee to get a final decision.
