Auburn baseball fans were not vengeful in the slightest that their SEC West counterpart Ole Miss, who knocked them off in their second-to-last game in the postseason, won the 2022 College World Series.
AU fans were instead supportive of the Rebels, who, despite facing Auburn across all sports every year as one of the closest geographic in-conference rivals, have a friendly relationship with the Auburn family.
Ole Miss rallied back down 2-1 in the seventh inning, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off an RBI single from shortstop Jacob Gonzalez and two wild pitches from Oklahoma’s All-American closer Trevin Michael. They never looked back as the Rebels closed the door with Brandon Johnson striking out the final two batters to close the door on the Sooners.
Auburn baseball fans showed class in their kudos to the Rebels baseball program:
How amazing is that, Ole Miss?

Auburn baseball owns a win over the 2022 College World Series Champions
Back when Ole Miss was the No. 1 overall team in the country a few months ago in March, the Tigers were able to beat the Rebels 19-5 in the second game of the two teams’ four 2022 matchups between the regular season and College World Series.
While Plainsman Park wasn’t the home of the 2022 NCAA baseball titlists, it was home to a blowout of the champs. The 2022 season will go down in history for many different reasons on the Plains, who had their sixth CWS appearance in program history.
Congratulations to Ole Miss!
