As June draws to a close and another recruiting dead period is upon us, the Auburn football coaching staff is still working hard to earn the commitments of top prospects in the recruiting class of 2023.

During the dead period, which begins on June 27 and extends to July 24, coaches are not allowed to have in-person contact with recruits or their families, but recruits can still make decisions about narrowing down their lists of potential schools.

This weekend, two different 4-star prospects named the Tigers in their top schools lists. 4-star cornerback Avery Stuart listed Auburn football in his top six schools, while 4-star offensive tackle Lance Heard listed the Tigers in his top eight schools.

Avery Stuart is ranked as the #197 overall prospect and the #12 safety in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as the #16 recruit out of the state of Alabama. In addition to Auburn, Stuart’s top six include Florida State, Miami, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Michigan State. He officially visited both Kentucky and Florida State, but the other schools will still remain in the running until his official decision is made on July 6.

Lance Heard is ranked as the #79 overall prospect and the #9 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #6 recruit out of the state of Louisiana. Heard’s top eight schools are Auburn, Nebraska, LSU, Florida State, Texas, Louisiana Tech, Houston, and Oklahoma State. According to 247 Sports, Heard is a former teammate of Auburn commit Enyce Sledge, and a visit could be in the works for the talented OT.

The Auburn football coaching staff has been working hard to develop a Louisiana pipeline to the Plains with the help of Trovon Reed, and Heard could be another recruit that helps cement that path.
