With two more commits on board for Auburn football’s recruiting class of 2023, the Tigers are barreling towards the end of the month, and the end of the NCAA recruiting dead period. Tentatively set for July 30, Big Cat Weekend is also coming up, and lots of invites have gone out to top recruits from both the 2023 and 2024 classes.

One recruit that is expected to be on campus for Big Cat Weekend is 3-star offensive tackle Gernorris Wilson from Lakeland, FL. The Tigers previously recruited former QB Chayil Garnett from Lakeland.

Wilson is listed as the #1083 overall prospect and the #77 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2023, and is ranked as the #152 recruit out of the state of Florida. He visited the Tigers in June, and recently set an official visit to campus on September 16, the weekend that Auburn football will host Penn State at Jordan-Hare Stadium. So far, it is his only official visit.

The offensive tackle told Auburn Live that he will “most likely” be at Big Cat Weekend, and he considers it an important visit because he plans to bring his mom with him. Joe Bernardi, an offensive analyst, has been Wilson’s primary recruiter, and he’s formed a good relationship with him so far:

"“I talk to them almost every day,” Wison said. “He’s a really nice dude. I like him a lot. Great person. Nice, chill dude. We just talk a lot, honestly just about colleges. I have a high chance of starting as a true freshman (at Auburn). I’m going to be an early enrollee.”"

Wilson has offers from 15 different programs at the moment, but Auburn didn’t offer a scholarship until June, and the OT’s recruitment is picking up late in the game. However, he doesn’t plan to commit until the end of his senior year, so we can expect more offers to come in for the rising prospect.
