The month of July continues to fly by, as does the NCAA recruiting dead period, where coaches are not allowed in-person contact with prospects, but for Auburn football, it will all culminate in the summer’s biggest recruiting event: Big Cat Weekend.

It’s too early for the visitor list to be set in stone, but top prospects from both the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes are already slated to make their way to the Plains during the last weekend in July.

Last year, the Tigers picked up a big commitment during Big Cat Weekend. Running back Damari Alston, who became one of the Tigers’ biggest cheerleaders during the 2022 recruiting cycle, announced his commitment to Auburn football during the big event. This year, the coaching staff is hoping history will repeat itself.

The offensive line is a big position of need for Auburn football, and three significant offensive line prospects have confirmed they will attend Big Cat Weekend, including 4-star Bo Hughley, 3-star Gernorris Wilson, and 3-star Jatavius Shivers.

The Auburn football coaching staff has been pursuing Bo Hughley for some time despite the OL’s commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs. He has taken three visits to the Plains so far, including an official visit in the month of June. Though he hasn’t walked back his commitment to the Dawgs, the Tigers are certainly putting pressure on him and he is a likely flip candidate.

Gernorris Wilson visited the Tigers back in June, as well, and was eager to get back on campus. He will attend BCW at the end of the month and is slotted for an official visit on September 16, the weekend the Tigers host Penn State.

Also planning to be on campus for BCW is 3-star Jatavius Shivers, who is still waiting on an offer from Auburn football and recently de-committed from Vanderbilt. Shivers has been primarily speaking with offensive line analyst Joe Bernardi, per Auburn Undercover.

The visitor list for Big Cat Weekend will continue to grow, but the coaching staff is working especially hard to add talent to the Tigers’ offensive line.
