Auburn football staff likely to continue recruiting Keldric Faulk
As the end of the NCAA recruiting dead period draws near and the end of the summer lurks on the horizon, the Auburn football coaching staff were likely hoping for more than just four commits. Thought two top in-state targets joined ranks with the Tigers earlier this month, Auburn missed out on one prospect in a bad way.
On July 5, priority target Keldric Faulk, a 4-star edge from Highland Home, AL, committed to Florida State over Auburn football and Clemson. Missing out on Faulk stings for several reasons, from losing in-state talent to losing that talent to a school that hasn’t had a winning season in years.
However, head coach Bryan Harsin’s second year staff has proven that they are not ones to shy away from pushing for a flip even after a recruit has given a verbal commitment. Early signing day doesn’t arrive until December, which gives Auburn plenty of time to lure Faulk away from FSU.
Faulk told Chad Simmons that he ultimately chose the Seminoles because of the consistency from Florida State’s coaches and the relationships they built with him and his family:
"“My connection with Florida State is different. They talk to my mom daily. They recruited me hard. Florida State built relationships with my family, so that was awesome. That meant a lot to me.”"
It’s likely that the Tigers’ staff uses the remaining months in Faulk’s recruitment to continue building relationships with the in-state edge and try to get him on campus for a game early on in the season. With Faulk’s proximity to the Plains and the Tigers’ need for talented edge rushers, flipping him will be a priority for the coaching staff.
Winning games early on in the season and hosting Faulk in Jordan-Hare for a home game could be the key to getting him to commit to the Tigers.
