In 2021, Auburn football’s wide receiver corps was a position group that had a lot of struggles. Plagued with drops and miscommunication, head coach Bryan Harsin made significant staffing changes to put the wide receivers back on track, and added several transfers during the offseason.

So far, new wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard has been instrumental in the development of the position groups, from working with returning talent to getting young recruits on board with Auburn football to drawing transfers in from the portal.

One of those transfers is former LSU Tiger Koy Moore, who committed to Auburn in early June. So far, the coaching staff has repeatedly heaped praise on the new wide receiver, but the other players on the roster are noticing his impact, as well.

Safety Donovan Kaufman, who himself transferred to Auburn from Vanderbilt last year, called Moore the hardest worker he knows, and said that Tiger fans can expect to see great things from the receiver on the field this year, per Auburn Undercover. In fact, Kaufman says the wide receivers have improved immensely during the offseason:

"“He’s definitely one of the missing pieces,” the safety says. “I would say he’s a ‘do it all receiver.’ He can go over your head and burn you. He can do it all. The whole receivers corps is way better than it was last year. We all know this. I think bringing the new guys in it put everyone on edge knowing they had to work harder.”"

After losing some of the most productive receivers on the team in Kobe Hudson and Demetris Robertson, there will be an opportunity for many of the younger, more inexperienced receivers to step up and prove themselves, including redshirt freshman Tar’Varish Dawson Jr., Ja’Varrius Johnson, and Ze’Vian Capers.

With his work ethic and energy, Koy Moore has the chance to help transform Auburn football’s wide receiver corps into a successful group in 2022.
