If there’s one thing about this Auburn football coaching staff, it’s that they’re going to try to pull off a flip. So far during the 2023 recruiting cycle, the Tigers’ staff has not shied away from continuing to pursue prospects they’re interested in even if they’re already committed to another school.

After all, the verbal commitments are great, but what really matters is what happens on Early National Signing Day in December and National Signing Day in February. Currently, the highest profile flip the Tigers are trying to pull off is that of Bo Hughley, an offensive lineman committed to UGA, but there are quite a few potential flips on the board.

The latest possible flip for Auburn football could be current Arkansas linebacker commit Alex Sanford. The 3-star LB is ranked as the #777 overall prospect and the #63 linebacker in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #15 recruit out of the state of Mississippi.

The Oxford native committed to the Razorbacks on June 26, but received an offer from Bryan Harsin’s Tigers last week and has already set an official visit to the Plains for the Arkansas game on October 29.

Although he is still firm in his commitment to Arkansas at this time, Sanford told Auburn Live that he was excited about his Auburn offer and there’s a possibility he could change his mind after learning more about the Tigers’ program:

"“If my mind so happens to change, then it will change,” he told Auburn Live. “Right now I’m committed, but I do want to see what (Auburn has) to offer.”"

Sanford’s primary recruiter has been Auburn linebacker coach Christian Robinson, who wants Sanford on the squad as a middle linebacker. Sanford is likely not to make any decisions about a flip until after his official visit, but the Tigers could be in prime position to pull off a steal.
