Head coach Bryan Harsin is currently in the middle of his second season with the Auburn football program, and throughout his tenure on the Plains, recruiting has been less than great. Oftentimes, the Tigers have come away from big recruiting battles or milestones like Signing Day feeling nothing short of disappointed.

Over and over again throughout the summer, Harsin and the Tigers missed out on priority recruits, watching them choose Ohio State, Florida State, and other programs over Auburn football. Of course, the Tigers are undoubtedly at a disadvantage after the disastrous ending to last season and the inquiry into Harsin during the offseason.

The Penn State matchup was supposed to be the biggest recruiting event of the season for the Tigers, and quite a few top-priority prospects were present, but the embarrassing loss did nothing to assure recruits that this coaching staff will still be here next year.

Things are not looking great for Auburn football in terms of recruiting, but here is where the class of 2023 currently stands. The Tigers have secured 10 commits so far, including three from Alabama, three from Florida, two from Georgia, one from Kentucky, and one from Louisiana.

There are three defensive line commits, two defensive back commits, two offensive line commits, two wide receiver commits, and one running back commit. According to 247 Sports, seven of the 10 hold 4-star status, and the other three are 3-stars. The recruiting class is ranked #54 in the nation, and #13 in the SEC.

It is slightly more optimistic on On3 Sports’ database, where they rank Auburn’s 2023 recruiting class as #32 in the nation and #10 in the SEC. Rivals ranks the Tigers at #51 in the nation and #12 in the SEC. No matter which source you look at, you will not find the data that you want to see.

While on-the-field performance is the most important thing, there is still no doubt that the Tigers are going to slide further and further if recruiting doesn’t pick up soon.
