Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin has somehow survived the college football coaching chopping block thus far in 2022 despite getting blown out twice by Georgia and Penn State, blowing a 17-point lead in the Tigers’ other loss to LSU, and beating Missouri only because Eli Drinkwitz’ Tigers seemingly didn’t want to win.

At 3-3, and with a losing record overall in his season and a half at the helm as Auburn football head coach, Harsin is seemingly holding onto his job by a thread — the lack of an athletic director on the Plains being his sole saving grace.

With the schedule including undefeated Ole Miss, two wounded SEC West programs pegged as potential College Football Playoff contenders (Arkansas, Texas A&M), and a 5-1 Mississippi State program collecting key wins via their vaunted air raid offense — this all before the season concludes in Tuscaloosa with Harsin’s first Iron Bowl on the road — things could get worse before they get better.

And yet through it all, it seems like the Boise native will be standing on the sidelines. Because of that, Opelika-Auburn News deputy editor Justin Lee called him the luckiest coach in college football while reiterating the fanbase’s belief that he should be dismissed ASAP:

Auburn football doesn’t even do what Bryan Harsin promised they would under him

Justin Lee didn’t stop there, going after Bryan Harsin for all of the promises he has made that haven’t come close to being delivered on before his Tigers ever took Pat Dye Field at Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first time.

Namely, that Auburn football would do the little things to win, that they would play to the whistle in every facet, and that they would be a disciplined outfit on the field:

Evidently, Harsin has so support from the local media. Meanwhile, the national media has been circling like sharks waiting for Harsin to be let go and speculating on who could be the next Tigers head coach.
