Auburn football: JUCO OL Keyshawn Blackstock happy with coaches’ visit
The Auburn football coaching staff didn’t have a game to focus on this past weekend, but they stayed busy nevertheless, utilizing the opportunity to hit the road and make big recruiting moves during the bye week.
While some coaches Zac Etheridge, Christian Robinson, and Roc Bellantoni were making moves in the Sunshine State, head coach Bryan Harsin and offensive line coach Will Friend went a different direction to the state of Kansas. Although some fans seemed displeased with Harsin’s trip to Kansas, important work was done at Coffeyville Community College.
Harsin and Friend stopped by to visit inside offensive lineman Keyshawn Blackstock, who has emerged as a high priority target for the Tigers at a major position of need. Due to Blackstock’s JUCO game schedule (his team plays on Saturdays) he has not yet been able to visit the Plains, so having Harsin and Friend come to him was a big deal, per Auburn Undercover:
"“That was big,” Blackstock told Auburn Undercover. “I had them there and Oklahoma there, too. It was big but like I always said, it’s cool for them to be there, I love that and they showing me love, but I still got a job to do at the end of the day. That’s play ball and perform. I’m going to always perform.”"
Blackstock said he feels like the Tigers are going after him hard right now, and he feels as a junior college player that he can come in and make an immediate impact along the line of scrimmage for Auburn football. Expecting to lose such a large group of linemen following this season, playmakers are exactly what the Tigers will need to compliment those coming in from the high school level.
The OL plans to make a decision about where to continue his collegiate career sometime in December following the end of his JUCO season so he can make more visits.
