Auburn football will be without third-year running back Jordon Ingram, a Central Michigan transfer named to the first-team AL.com all-Coastal Alabama selection in 2019 and a second-team Class 6A All-State pick, for the rest of the 2022 season. Bryan Harsin announced the unfortunate injury news on Monday, October 24 in a press scrum ahead of a Week 9 showdown with the Arkansas Razorbacks on October 29.

The Mobile, Alabama native Ingram hadn’t seen any action during the 2022 season thus far, having only rushed twice in his Tigers career during the 2021 season. His absence cuts the RB room down to 4, with Tank Bigsby, Jarquez Hunter, Damari Alston, and Sean Jackson still available.

Of the aforementioned four backs, Jackson is the only one who similarly has yet to see the field after amassing 60 yards on 12 carries and a rushing touchdown during the Tigers’ September 11, 2021 62-0 walloping of Alabama State.

Harsin had been addressing the team’s injury woes now being beyond the half-way point of the 2022 season when he went on to reveal Ingram’s season-ending injury:

Bryan Harsin says Auburn football ‘better get better’ over final five games

At 3-4, Auburn football is having the season many expected them to have to this point in the season. Losses to Georgia and Penn State were somewhat predictable heading into the season, but the Tigers letting a winnable game get beyond their grasp against LSU has them in a precarious position with five left to play. It’s arguable that had Mizzou not choked away their Week 4 trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium, AU would probably have an interim head coach right now.

Harsin was stern in his assessment of the post-bye week slate for Auburn during the October 24 media scrum while also giving his players credit for not quitting on him, the program, or the fans thus far:

It’s going to be an interesting closing stretch for what could be Harsin’s final ride on the Plains.
