Auburn football: Carnell Williams calls on AU Family to show up in JHS
Heading into the road matchup against Mississippi State, there was without a doubt a new energy surrounding the Auburn football team. Head coach Bryan Harsin was fired early last week, along with several other staffers, leaving the remaining coaches to scramble to fill in the gaps.
Coach Carnell Williams took the reins of the program, and suddenly the full force of the Auburn family was behind him and an offensive staff that got very little sleep this week to plan for the road game. Although the game ended in a tough overtime loss for Auburn football, it was the happiest the fans have been with a loss all season.
Finally, we saw our team play good, hard-nosed Auburn football. The second-half woes all but disappeared under Coach Caddy, with the Tigers outscoring the Bulldogs 27-9 throughout the third and fourth quarters. There were real adjustments, and although the team had to battle early on from a 24-3 hole, they never gave up, fighting until the very end.
Coach Caddy took full responsibility for the loss, emphasizing that the Tigers need to work on discipline among other things, and that begins with the coach. But there are still three games left on the season, including next weekend’s home matchup under the lights, and Coach Caddy stressed that the team needs the Auburn family to show up next weekend in Jordan-Hare Stadium, per Auburn Live:
"“Auburn family- if you’re listening, if you hear me, support this staff. Support these kids. They need the Auburn family, because I’m a living witness of, if you love Auburn, Auburn will love you back. These kids need the Auburn family, that Auburn spirit. They’re going to fight. What a great atmosphere it is going to be on Saturday. I’m getting chills just thinking about it, goosebumps."
Auburn football fans are ready to run through multiple brick walls for the Auburn man coaching the football team and all the kids that have been through this horrendous season and have not given up. Believe me, Coach Williams, the Auburn family WILL be in Jordan-Hare in full force this weekend, unbelievably proud to support this team, win or lose.
