New Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze is making the right kinds of hires for his inaugural support staff, having already retained Carnell “Cadillac” Williams, Zac Etheridge, and Christian Robinson.

You could add another name to Freeze’s list of popular retainees on the Plains — Auburn football Director of Football and Recruiting Relations Trovon Reed, who announced he’d be staying on Friday, December 9 with a tweet of a snippet from The Wolf of Wall Street of Leonard DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort exclaiming that he isn’t leaving.

Such a move figures to be yet another popular decision for the fanbase, and one that honors the focus on recruiting Freeze’s tenure is being marked by early on. As On3’s Justin Hokanson points out, Reed helped bring on Austin Ausberry, Marquise Gilbert, and others during the last recruiting cycle.

Reed also gave Auburn Live one of the most inspiring quotes an Auburn football recruit can ever hear in his life:

"“I’m just one of those examples, if you love Auburn, Auburn will love you back.”"

Trovon Reed is a recruiting weapon for Auburn football

When it comes to player-friendly representatives of Auburn football, Trovon Reed is as good as it could get. Class of 2022 4-star cornerback Austin Ausberry spoke highly to On3 of Reed, who has become a weapon on the recruiting trail:

"“Coach Reed is the realest dude I’ve ever met. That’s my guy, for sure. He kept it real about everything. I just appreciate his time and everything.”"

Reed most recently helped flip Darron Reed, a four-star defensive lineman, from Columbus, Georgia, away from LSU. Brian Kelly’s Tigers were just about to head to Atlanta for the SEC Championship, but Trovon Reed still had him beat on a key local recruit.

Reed being back on Freeze’s coaching staff is a major win for Auburn football. Full stop.
