Auburn football won’t be getting Class of 2024 gunslinger Adrian Posse for Hugh Freeze’s second go-round on the Plains, with the Bryan Harsin-recruited quarterback re-opening his recruitment and de-committing from AU.

Posse, a Mater Academy Charter product out of Hialeah, Florida, is a six-foot-four pro-style passer and one of the biggest victories on the trail for Harsin and his former Auburn football staff during a much-maligned Tigers tenure.

Posse shared the news on his personal Twitter account, thanking Harsin, former offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau, and former special teams coordinator Roc Bellantoni for their time investment in him:

"“I want to give a special thanks to Coach Bryan Harsin, Coach Eric Kiesau, and Coach Roc Bellantoni as well as Auburn University for all they have done for me. However, after thorough and careful consideration with my family, I have decided to decommit from Auburn and reopen my recruitment.”"

Auburn football outlook at quarterback in 2024

While the loss of Adrian Posse stings to a degree, the writing was always on the wall somewhat because of the fact Bryan Harsin was the one to recruit him. While the same was the case for OL Bradyn Joiner, a Class of 2023 OL, Joiner plays a position of need and was an Auburn High School product. While Harsin did what was necessary to bring him in, the Plains itself was the draw, not the Boise native.

Without Posse, Hugh Freeze and co. will have a QB room that is projected to include Robby Ashford, who has two red-shirt years under his belt and two more years of eligibility after the 2022 season, Holden Geriner, and incoming freshman Hank Brown — aka the same QB room for this upcoming year.

Freeze has work to do to add depth to the room, but does anyone actually doubt that he’ll do it? Those aren’t worries one must have about the Auburn football head coach anymore.
