Former Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix got high praise as a play-caller and leader from new Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein, who said that Nix could be a head coach at the college level or even in the NFL.

Stein was hired by the Ducks to replace Kenny Dillingham, who left Oregon after a single season under Dan Lanning to become a head coach for the first time at any level at Arizona State in his home state.

Stein made these comments on Oregon’s inhouse school radio station while speaking to Joey McMurry (h/t 247Sports):

"“I think he could be a college or NFL head coach. He has that kind of mind football-wise, he’s great at developing relationships, and he can recruit. I mean a lot of the guys we’re signing or that we’re getting in the portal is because Bo is a great recruiter and if your quarterback can recruit, that helps a lot.”“We can say as much as we want, but guys in recruiting listen to players a lot as well. It’s just the same if you’re an NFL quarterback and trying to recruit a free agent. He’s an exceptional relationship builder, and very happy to have him back.”"

Auburn football fans would welcome Bo Nix back as a coach

Nix ended his time at AU in a somewhat controversial manner back in 2021. One foot was out the door, there was a false announcement that Nix would be coming back for the 2022 season, and his eventual transfer to Oregon left Auburn football undermanned at the quarterback position last season.

Despite that, if Nix ever did enter the coaching ranks, there would be genuine interest from a good portion of fans to want to see the Pinson product back play-calling on the Plains. Having left the program with no scandals and only getting better from there, Nix would be a great QB coach/offensive coordinator hire for Auburn when the time comes.
