In the words of Auburn basketball’s KD Johnson: We got the dub! After a rough three-game losing streak for the Tigers and a season in which Johnson has seemed to struggle with shooting and scoring in a way he didn’t last year, it seems that the KD Johnson we know and love is back.
He finished 4-6 from behind the arc and with 15 points total, his most points since the Tigers played Colgate in the beginning of December when he scored 16. The Auburn basketball team as a whole has struggled mightily on the offense this season, but it was almost like night and day in this game.
Watching the game against Missouri, where the orange and blue Tigers ultimately finished with over thirty more points than the opponent, who was just coming off a massive one-point, buzzer-beater win over the highly ranked Tennessee Volunteers, it was liking watching Auburn players get their confidence back.
There is no doubt that this was one of the more fun games to watch this season, and Auburn basketball fans spent the night being KD’s biggest cheerleader on Auburn Twitter:
Although it has felt like the Tigers have been in a slump as of late, this game could be the spark that ignites the flame for the rest of the season. Auburn basketball is still ranked #4 in the SEC, and they are working to prove that they are a team that belongs in the tournament in March.
The Auburn basketball team’s next game will take them on the road to Nashville, TN, where they will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores, who hold a 14-12 record overall and are #7 in the SEC.
