Auburn football offers No. 1 recruit in the state of Mississippi
Though it is still early days in the recruitment of athletes in the class of 2025, there are a number of prospects out there that have already committed to a college program, and Auburn football has earned a pledge from one of them.
The lone commit in the Tigers’ recruiting class of 2025 is defensive lineman Malik Autry, from the neighboring town of Opelika. While the 2024 class is shifting to the forefront of the recruiting focus for the coaching staff, work has already begun on the class of 2025.
Earlier this week, the Tigers extended an offer to wide receiver Caleb Cunningham. The 5-star pass catcher is ranked as the #10 overall prospect and the #2 wide receiver in the class of 2025, and is the number one recruit out of the state of Mississippi.
Auburn football is getting in on the ground floor with Cunningham, who so far has just 10 offers, though that list will continue to grow throughout his recruitment. The Tigers are already facing competition from around the SEC including both Mississippi schools, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida.
Almost a month ago, Hugh Freeze and the other members of the staff held an incredibly successful Junior Day, where over 200 prospects showed up on campus to learn more about the Auburn football program and check out the new Woltosz Football Performance Center. The Tigers’ next Junior Day will take place on March 4, and according to Auburn Undercover’s Christian Clemente, Caleb Cunningham will be in attendance.
In the coming months, we can expect the Tigers to recruit heavily in the state of Mississippi and make the most of new offensive line coach Jake Thornton’s connections from his time at Ole Miss.
