The new age of NIL has changed the recruiting world whether we like it or not, but the Auburn football program is still emphasizing building strong relationships with prospective players. Those relationships paid off big-time during the transition from Bryan Harsin to Hugh Freeze, and they will continue to pay off for the recruiting classes to come.

One recruit that has been made a priority by the Auburn football defensive staff is 4-star edge Jordan Ross, who is being recruited to the Plains as a jack linebacker. Ross, out of Vestavia Hills in Birmingham, is ranked as the #78 overall prospect and the #7 edge in the recruiting class of 2024, and is the #4 player out of the state of Alabama.

Ross has over 20 offers from plenty of high-ranking programs, including many SEC schools. Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Ole Miss are just a few of the programs trying to secure the commitment of the edge, along with Oregon, Penn State, and Texas as some of the programs outside the SEC.

Auburn Rivals reported that Ross visited campus last week for Friday’s spring practice, but is still trying to figure out where he’ll take his official visits this summer. However, he says the Tigers have a good shot if he stays a priority:

"“It’s really good. I want the team to feel like they need me and I want them to see how I feel and everything, my true feeling about it,” said Ross."

The edge has taken recent visits to Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and Auburn, but has only one official visit planned for Tennessee in June. According to Ross’ recruitment page on On3, the Vols currently hold the lead in the edge’s recruitment, followed by Alabama and then Auburn. But with the way things are going, it’s completely possible that the Tigers surge to the top for Jordan Ross sooner than later.
