The NCAA transfer portal opened for the spring window this past weekend, a 15-day opportunity for players to declare their intentions to transfer after spring practice. The portal situation has been off to a slow start with Auburn football sending out only two offers so far, but this is likely because spring practices have not finished for all of the college programs.

As the days go by, we can expect more and more athletes to enter the portal as it’s only been open for two days. The Tigers have so far seen four of its own enter the portal in Kameron Brown, Desmond Tisdol, Jeffrey M’Ba, and Tar’Varish Dawson. Could more enter the portal? We’ll see, but it’s also important for the team to have depth.

Both of Auburn football’s transfer portal offers have gone out to offensive linemen—Jaden Muskrat out of Tulsa and Emmanual Pregnon out of Wyoming. The coaches have previously said that they would like to have more depth at that position, even with adding so many O-Lineman in the first portal window.

When it comes to Muskrat, the Tigers should have a good shot in landing him for several reasons, and should be considered early favorites according to Auburn Rivals:

"The Tigers have to be considered an early favorite for Muskrat considering offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery was the head coach at Tulsa the previous eight seasons and his former teammate, Dillon Wade, transferred to AU in January."

Of course, previous relationships always helps when it comes to recruiting, and Muskrat has already spent plenty of time playing opposite Dillon Wade, who followed current offensive coordinator Phillip Montgomery from Tulsa to the Plains.

Muskrat, who mostly played left tackle as a Golden Hurricane, could be poised to make the same position, and would already know one of his teammates, one of his coaches, and be familiar with the play and coaching style of Montgomery.

Though we can only wait and see, it’s likely that more players will enter the portal as time passes and we can expect the Auburn football program to be pretty active in going after multiple position players during this 15-day window.
