Class of 2024 recruitment is ramping up for the Auburn football staff as we near the summer months, which are critical for official visits and winning over prospects. While the Tigers already have a solid list of 2024 commits, there are still many top recruits left on the board, and new head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are trying to win them over.

While there are many undecided prospects, there are a few who have already committed to other programs that the Tigers are still pursuing. For example, Sterling Dixon and Perry Thompson are both already committed to Alabama, but Freeze and Co. are not giving up on these big in-state players.

Another in-state player that is a major want for the Tigers is 5-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick. Though he has been committed to Georgia since November of last year, Auburn football is making a big push and is definitely keeping the interest of the in-state LB.

Riddick is ranked as the #25 overall prospect and the #3 LB in the recruiting class of 2024 and is the #2 player out of the state of Alabama. He has continued to pay visits to both Auburn and Alabama, but was most recently on the Plains for a quick visit to check out the academic side of campus after having to miss out on A-Day.

Riddick told Auburn Live that both Hugh Freeze and LB coach Josh Aldridge have been in constant contact with him, and he likes the fact that Auburn has a great engineering program because a lot of his family are engineers and he could see himself taking on that major. But the key thing he told Auburn Live was about where the Tigers currently stand in his recruitment:

"“Auburn is still in my top three I can say that,” Riddick said."

If the Tigers manage to pull off the flip, Riddick would be Auburn football’s first UGA flip since 2015, when Darius Slayton did the same thing. The stakes are high, but the Tigers are definitely in the thick of it with Demarcus Riddick.
