Summer is right around the corner, which means that plenty of high school prospects from around the country are nailing down their official visit dates with Auburn football. While some will schedule OV’s during the football season, many more will visit during the months of June and July.

One of the Tigers’ summer visitors next month will be Daniel Calhoun, the #88 overall prospect and the #5 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2024. Recruiting offensive linemen is a massive priority for Auburn football after the struggles in the past few years, and getting OL out of high school is vital for Hugh Freeze in his 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes.

According to Auburn Rivals, the Tigers were not at the top of Calhoun’s list in the beginning of his recruitment, but since Freeze and his new staff have taken over, the OT has only grown fonder of the Plains, especially due to staying in constant contact with offensive line coach Jake Thornton:

"“He’s a real good coach, he’s put many offensive linemen in the league, so he’s a really good coach,” Calhoun said."

He also mentioned that Auburn football 2024 quarterback commit Walker White has been recruiting him hard, which is par for the course when it comes to White. The attention from the Tigers was enough for Calhoun to set an official visit to the Plains on June 12.

The OT has scheduled several other official visits as well: Georgia on June 2, Alabama on June 9, Tennessee on June 16, and Texas on June 23. He has unofficially visited Georgia and Alabama more than any other school, but is definitely giving more attention to Auburn football, now.

So far, the Tigers have no offensive linemen committed in the class of 2024, but Calhoun would be a great place to start if Freeze and co. can beat out the Dawgs and the Tide.
