Though it’s currently a dead period in the world of recruiting, the Auburn football program is getting geared up for its biggest recruiting event of the year. At the end of this month, top prospects from all over the country will make their way to the Plains for a weekend of food, fun, and family on campus.
Many of Auburn football’s top targets are planning to attend the event, including WR Perry Thompson (committed to Alabama), LB Demarcus Riddick (committed to Georgia), and S KJ Bolden, among others. Several recruits who have recently committed to other schools, like WR Cam Coleman and DB Red Morgan are also slated to attend, but that could change.
The Tigers’ most-wanted aren’t the only ones headed to campus for Big Cat Weekend. Also in attendance will be the players who have already committed to Auburn football, including 4-star quarterback commit Walker White.
White has made a name for himself in the class of 2024 so far by helping lead the charge on social media for recruiting others to join him on the Plains. The young QB is committed to building relationships and getting the best of the best to Auburn, and he has a strong message for those still weighing their final decision, per Auburn Rivals:
"“I want them to understand that walking into this [2024] class, there will be a lot of talent around them with a coaching staff that is so eager to develop,” White said. “I’ve told them y’all have an opportunity to come in and be such a difference maker for this program.”"
Of course, head coach Hugh Freeze is already working to flip the script, and to do so successfully he will need strong 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. Big Cat Weekend will be an interesting day to watch because the Tigers could definitely add another recruit to the ranks on that day.
